Do you care about the future of Brittas Bay? Clean Coasts are running a free outdoor workshop on the beach and dunes, exploring:
- how the dunes function
- the wildlife they support
- the pressures they face, from recreation, development and climate change
- how citizen science (the "Map Your Dunes" app) can help protect them
There will also be a demonstration of marram grass planting (no permanent planting will take place).
Wicklow County Council is also keen to hear from local residents, regular beach users and anyone with a connection to Brittas Bay about its longer-term conservation. This is the start of a longer conversation: what would a healthy, well-cared-for Brittas Bay look like in 20 years, and what role could the community play?
When: Saturday 10 October, 10:30am – 12:30pm Where: Brittas Bay Beach South Car Park
What to bring: outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for the weather and beach, an internet-enabled smartphone, and your own water and snacks (none provided).
Registration is required (over 18s): register on the Leave No Trace Ireland site.
Organised by ACT and delivered by Clean Coasts, shared by Wicklow County Council.
