Council payments move online: Wicklow launches MyCoCo

Wicklow County Council has launched MyCoCo, a new online payment portal for council accounts. It's aimed at tenants and business customers, and is meant to make managing and paying accounts easier.

What you can pay

Customers with rents, rates, home loans and other council accounts can get at their account through a web browser or by downloading the MyCoCo payments app.

For most of us in Hawk's Bay this won't apply day to day — it covers council rents, Local Authority home loans and commercial rates rather than general council services. If you're a council tenant, hold a local authority home loan, or run a business paying commercial rates, it's the one to know about.

Getting set up

Account holders will receive correspondence with their customer account number and PIN, which is what you need to register. Registration is at mycoco.ie, and the same login works in the app.

If your letter hasn't arrived or you've mislaid the PIN, contact the council directly rather than guessing — details are on wicklow.ie.

What this means for you

  • Nothing changes unless you already pay the council for rent, a home loan or commercial rates.
  • If you do, watch the post for your customer number and PIN, then register once and pay from your phone or laptop.
  • Existing payment methods (standing order, Household Budget, in person) aren't affected by the launch — check with the council if you're unsure about your own arrangement.
