If a forest walk is part of your weekend, worth knowing before you set off: Wicklow County Council has advised that filming will take place at Devil's Glen, Trooperstown Car Park and Ballard Wood on a number of dates in September, and all three will be closed to the public while the crews are there. The first closure is Monday 7 September.
The dates
Devil's Glen
- Monday 7 September — 9am to 11pm
- Tuesday 8 September — 10am to 11pm
- Wednesday 9 September — 10am to 10pm
- Wednesday 16 September — 5pm to 8am the following morning (night shoot)
- Friday 25 September — 6am to 9pm
Trooperstown
- Thursday 10 September — 6am to 8pm
- Friday 11 September — 6am to 8pm
Ballard Wood
- Thursday 10 September — 6am to 9pm
- Thursday 17 September — 6pm to 8am the following morning (night shoot)
Note the two night shoots — they run overnight, so Devil's Glen is shut from teatime on Wednesday 16th until 8am on the 17th, and Ballard Wood from teatime on Thursday 17th until 8am on the 18th.
What this means for you
Devil's Glen is only about fifteen minutes up the road from us, so it's the one most likely to catch you out. On the dates above, pick somewhere else — the Murrough, the Black Castle walk or Glendalough are all unaffected. Outside those windows, all three parks are open as normal.
None of these are full-week closures, so if you're planning around them the simplest rule is: check the list, and if your day isn't on it, you're grand.
These dates come from a Wicklow County Council notice. Filming schedules do shift — if you're travelling any distance, check wicklow.ie news or the signage at the car park before you go.
