St Patrick's NS looking for a school bus escort for its special classes

St Patrick's NS has had no applicants for its School Bus Escort job and is asking parents and guardians to get in touch, as the special classes bus only has cover three days a week.

St Patrick's NS is looking for a School Bus Escort for the bus that serves its special classes, and is asking parents and guardians to consider it. The job was advertised but nobody applied. A substitute escort is covering three days a week, and there is no cover for the other two days.

The school wants to keep the service running for pupils and families, so it is asking for expressions of interest from parents and guardians first.

The role

The escort travels with pupils to and from school and looks after their safety and wellbeing on the journey. It could suit someone who wants either of these:

  • A full-time escort position: five mornings and afternoons a week, or
  • A job-share: two people sharing the duties across the week.

What's required

Successful applicants will need to:

  • Complete Garda Vetting through the school
  • Provide appropriate references
  • Do any training the transport provider requires

Experience working with children, especially children with additional needs, would help but isn't essential. The school says the key qualities are reliability, patience and a caring approach.

What this means for you

If you'd like to know more, or want to express an interest, contact the school office:

If you know a parent or neighbour who might be a good fit, pass this on.
